I am interested in supporting healthy humans and healthy cultures. Western psychiatry supports individuals who are struggling to function in our culture. Unfortunately, we do not live in a healthy or vibrant culture. This problem is not genetic, nor is it biological or neurological. It is a psycho-spiritual problem. And it is my belief that our culture cannot be shifted by the current practices of psychiatry, psychotherapy, or religion.

I sense what is being asked of us in these times is to enter into The Great Turning, the shift from an industrial growth society to a life-sustaining civilization. What we truly need is an advanced way to remember 1) our relationship to the planet, 2) our role in the world as humans, and 3) the way we think of psychological and spiritual development.

My work is greatly informed by my 20 years in academic medicine, my training and work with Ken Wilber and The Integral Institute and Boulder Integral, my extensive training with Bill Plotkin and the Animas Valley Institute, and my Training in the Certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research Program through the combined California Institute for Integral Studies and the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies.

I founded Wilderness is Medicine to offer a rich assortment of journeys into the wilderness of the natural world in order to encounter the wilderness of the inner world. This organization primarily supports the wholeness, healing, and psycho-spiritual depth of health care professionals. This is currently running online. I direct the wholistic eco-depth psychotherapy training program, known as the Wild Mind Training Program, at the Animas Valley Institute.

I also co-founded Seminary of the Wild and co-founded the California Teachers College.

I also founded Eco-Psyche-Artistry to guide individuals in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties to reconnect with Earth, their Soul, and their Social Artistry. To learn more, please visit: https://www.eco-psyche-artistry.com/.
